Mamik Singh (born 3 May 1963) is an Indian actor, who works on television and has also worked in five Bollywood movies. He is best known for his roles in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), Ssshhhh..Koi Hai (2002) and Vikraal Aur Gabraal (2003).[2]

Mamik made his acting debut in the hit film, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) as Aamir Khan's elder brother Ratan. Despite the film's popularity, Mamik did not get any role in films for five years, so he started working in TV serials on STAR Plus. He worked in three more films like Aar Ya Paar, Dil Ke Jharkoon Mein etc., with the hit Kya Kehna (2000), being his last film. After that film, Mamik ended his career in Bollywood & debut in Nepali language movie Hamro Sano Ghar hola playing the lead role opposite Puja chand& Rajesh hamal film was huge success& celebrated more than 51 days in many theatre and continued to work on television hit serials, which include Saahil, Maal Hai To Taal Hai and Woh. In Ssshhhh..Koi Hai (2002), Mamik starred as Vikraal, a ghostbuster which earned him accolades and made him famous TV star overnight, many consider Ssshhhh..Koi Hai to be his best work to date. He was seen in the movie Mallika, a horror film, where he was seen doing a negative role. He then starred in Black on 9X. He also starred in Kaala Saaya, which aired on Sahara One. He appeared in Kahani Chandrakanta Ki, which aired on Sahara One. After this, he was off-air again for a few days and then was seen in the show Savdhaan India, running currently on Life OK. He has done two episodes in a negative role.

9X was an Indian Hindi general entertainment channel based in Mumbai.[3] It is owned by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEEL). The channel was launched on 12 November 2007 in India as the flagship of the INX Network.

Sale to Zee Enterprises[edit]

On 8 March 2010, it was reported that Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. had made a bid of Rs 650 million for 9X, who owe Rs 1.30 billion to creditors.[4] The 9X Media acquired the deal with the creditors. On 20 April 2010, Zee Enterprises confirmed that it had secured an in-principle approval from its board for acquisition of 9X, under a Scheme of Arrangement, subject to appropriate statutory and regulatory approvals.[5] On 29 April 2010, ZEE Network's board of directors has approved the Scheme of Arrangement between ZEEL and 9X Media, former owners of 9X.[6][7]

The channel ceased all its operations on 10 August 2009 in UK, where the ongoing shows were shifted to its sister music channel 9XM, making it a hybrid channel.[8] The channel ceased all its operations on 13 April 2015 in India as it stopped airing new content since 2009 and aired re-runs most of Zee TV shows.[9][10][11] The channel even suffered losses due to lack of GRP and viewership.[12][13]
